Day 273

You know how smells take you back to a time and place? The sight and smell of plumeria always takes me back to Hawaii....I remember sitting on the back porch at Aunt Lily's house, stringing plumeria leis with my cousins. On our first mission to Uganda, we found a plumeria "stick", and planted it in a pot on our back porch. We were transferred to Ethiopia before we could get enough blossoms to string a lei, but we gave it to the mission home to plant it in the yard there. Today, I saw this plumeria branch laying by the road near our meetinghouse, so I threw it in the back of the truck to see if I could keep it alive. First, i sawed off the dead, ragged end...
...then, Brad planted it in a pot in our backyard.  Here's hoping for a plumeria lei in the near future!

  1. Us 3 will be picking plumerias and putting them in our hair as a group in Hawaii soon enough.
