Day 265

Dad making the newest borehole in Rwimbogo look good.

The village chief enjoys a swig of the jerry can.
Dad, me, and the fashionable chief.

We are so happy that the clean water from the DIC borehole replaces this stagnant water that the villagers used prior to its opening.
We were then invited to a huge celebration in Gatsibo District to honor the inauguration of a village market, a savings and loan center, and our borehole project. The function was attended by 1,000s of villagers, the district governor, the mayor, and other government leaders...lots of speeches, dancing, music, more speeches, more speeches, and cameras and videographers. It was a long, but rewarding day.

  1. Fingers crossed the out-of-frame chief's legs were clad in gumboots.
