Day 82

Sometimes I like to pretend that I'm drillin' for oil - like Jed Clampett on The Beverly Hillbillies. OK, not really - I'm just innocently standing by watching as our FIRST BOREHOLE IS BEING DRILLED TO FIND PRECIOUS H20 (way more important than oil aka black gold aka Texas Tea to our friends who live in Rwimbogo Sector).

During the drillfest, Brad quizzed some local kids on their schoolwork in their notebooks.

There was a big crowd in attendance - complete with empty jerry cans - just awaiting that first spray of clean water.

We are really looking forward to seeing this scene repeated another 20-30 times, as our project drills boreholes all over Rwimbogo Sector.

The importance of these boreholes is underscored when one sees the current conditions where children such as these go to fetch water daily. They capture their water from dirty reservoirs, small streams, and standing puddles of stagnant water. We see that scene repeated over and over everywhere we travel, and are so grateful to be a small part of bringing clean, fresh water to as many people as possible. You can do your part by continuing to contribute to the Church Humanitarian fund. Water is Life!
