Day 292

We drove to a seconday school in the northern part of Rwanda to watch Agnes teach one of her Hygiene and Sanitation classes to the older students in the school.
80 students listened intently to Agnes. Brad and I added a few comments at the end.

The curriculum does not include any instruction on this matter, and the headmistresses was eager to have it taught in her school.

The class is taught through pictures and discussion. The kids enthusiastically raise their hands to answer Agnes' questions. They try to get selected to answer by raising their hands high and shaking their fingers together to make a snapping sound...David knows the technique.

Check out the tough geometry and algebra questions written on the chalkboard behind Agnes, Brad, and the headmistress. The surroundings may not be shiny and modern, but the math coursework is similar to what would be seen at GBHS!
