Damascene and Agnes invited us to their home for a meal. I introduced them to our cultural tradition of bringing bread as a housewarming gift. They were pretty excited about it, and wanted to pose for pictures!
Agnes cooked the entire meal over a charcoal burner!
She served matooke (starchy green banana) and green peas, a meat type stew, and fou fou (a sticky type of bread stuff made from cassava...popular with the Congolese).
