Day 277

We're sitting atop one of the several 10,000 liter cisterns built by the contractor, COPED, to store water that has been piped from a captured spring.

The water, then flows to a water point with a clever faucet that allows the water to flow when the "collar" is pushed up. We are posing with one of the COPED directors, Joseph.

1 kilometer away lies the country of Tanzania....I got cell phone service that said, "Welcome to Tanzania", so I guess I can claim being there... it's almost as good a stamp in the passport!

This is one of 5 latrines that was built by the parents of the children that attend a school for 100 students. One is designated for teachers (this one), two for girls, and two for boys. Brad felt it was his duty to try it out.
At one of the water points, the ladies on the water committee presented us with a traditional Rwandan basket filled with sweet bananas and eggs.

We stopped by and said hello in one of the classrooms at the school that received a ramp (a handwashing station) and a water point. This village is so remote, and near the Tanzanian border, that they rarely see muzungus (white people), so the children were very shy around us.

Brad is greeting the students at the ramp, where they washed hands together.

Many of the students were excited to line up behind the water ramp and pose for a picture.

The partner had these signs made in French (wish they were in Kirundi!) to mark the roadway towards the project.
