Day 175

Vincent is such an awesome young man. Two weeks ago, I taught our future missionaries about hygiene...brushing teeth and using floss, washing with soap, using deodorant, and keeping clothing laundered. Because a couple of the young people missed the class that week, I had Vincent review the topic with the group today. To fully appreciate this assignment, you just have to know Vincent. In this picture, he is reviewing how to use deodorant (something that no one has the money to buy here). Note the Q-tip sticking out of his ear.

Each of the young men listened intently to his lecture. They passed around the items to become familiar with them, and then he quizzed them about his lecture.

The dental floss was a big hit. There was no way to explain to Jean Pierre et. al. how to wrap it around the fingers to get tension, so they just draped it through their teeth and see-sawed back and forth...
...and continued the discussion...
...in a very serious manner.

Franco is getting the idea.

And Fidel manages to get his teeth around the floss. I seriously don't know which was more entertaining - seeing these young people with their first attempt at the floss or the first attempt at the Q-tip in the ear.

  1. This made me laugh so hard, reminds me of a certain set of Oreo on the face pictures someone took... I love how many different hats you get to wear as a missionary over there! Yay for personal hygiene!
