Day 159

I'll write more about the details of this project in the humanitarian blog....but briefly, we were able to buy $14,000 worth of supplies in the town of Musanze and participate in its distribution to people displaced by April and May  floods. Dad is talking to Susanna - a 62-year-old widow who fled from her home, which was subsequently destroyed. She told dad that she wants to rebuild (with the help of her 2 adult sons). When dad asked her where she would get the "iron sheets" (corrugated tin) for the roof, she looked at him with a smile on her face, and said, "you"!
I was the blanket giver-outer - 2 blankets per family.

I also distributed 2 bars of soap per family. The blue soap is multipurpose - body AND laundry!

We have met so many good people in the government of Musanze. This man is the district engineer, and he has been an integral part of the projects we do there - whether they be latrines at schools, captured springs or emergency aid, such as this project.

  1. So I can't really remember where Musanze is or if we visited it... I think we did but I can't really remember. So I got out the Rwanda County Plan to refresh my memory and I see that the church built latrines at the schools there but I still couldn't remember. I guess I'll just have to wait until you give us more details in the humanitarian blog! It's rough getting old and losing your memory! Well, at least I can still remember how much I love my good friends Brad and Karen and how much I miss them and how proud I am of them and what they are accomplishing in Rwanda:)!
