Day 135

Flooding in Musanze District, in the northern part of Rwanda, has created a dire emergency for many of the residents. We quickly wrote an emergency aid initiative, which was approved within a couple of days. Part of our project is to buy 2.5 tons of maize and 4 tons of beans for those who are now without homes or food. Here is Brad, shopping for our goods.
One of the missionaries we served with in Uganda in 2008 was visiting Rwanda, so we took him along with us. Tyler also happens to be a friend of Clay's from freshman year at BYU. William is our site monitor, and he helped organize the purchase and distribution of the maize and beans.
We are posing inside the small store where the maize is stored. We worked with the vice mayor and the district engineer to organize this emergency response. The other two men flanking Brad are the vendors for the maize and beans.
