The U.S. Embassy invited Americans in Rwanda for a belated 4th of July party on their grounds this afternoon. We had to check our phones and cameras at the security desk, so there are no photos of the activities, but it was so fun to experience a little bit of the U.S.A. for a couple of hours. We met with other Americans who are in the country doing good deeds. Many are there with NGOs to build schools and churches (not surprisingly, we didn't meet anyone else who were toilet specialists like ourselves!). There was a dunk tank, bounce house, bean bag toss, and face painting. The highlights for us were the various food kiosks that were selling American food. We saw corn dogs, hamburgers, apple pie, and cotton candy. I fulfilled my shopping psyche at one table where they were selling U.S. Embassy couture. Here I am in my awesome red t-shirt sporting the American and Rwandan flag!
So fashionable
